What happens on my 1st visit?
Your 1st visit will last up to one hour. A detailed case history will be taken regarding your current problem, the site and nature of the pain and when and how the symptoms first started. I will also need to know if you have a previous history of this and if you have had any treatment or tests done in the past. Then I will ask for details of your past medical history including any serious illnesses, accidents, falls, road traffic accidents, broken bones or operations.
You will then be asked to undress to your under-clothes. On subsequent visits this may not be necessary. Your posture and mobility will be assessed and you will be asked to perform some simple clinical tests.
If I can help I should be able to provide you with an idea of how many treatment sessions are needed. If I am unable to help I may suggest you see your own GP or another health professional.
On subsequent visits treatment will take up to half an hour.
Treatment may consist of one or a variety of manual techniques:
- Massage and soft tissue work
- Articulation and /or manipulation
- Traction
- Stretching and exercises
- Cranial osteopathy
