My Journey to becoming an Osteopath:

I trained at the British School of Osteopathy (BSO) as a mature student and graduated with a Bachelor of Osteopathy degree. During my training I spent 2.5 years with the BSO’s community clinic for children with severe social, emotional and behavioural problems. This started my interest in treating children as I realised how complex some of their presentations can be. In 2010 I graduated with a Master of Science (MSc) in Paediatric Osteopathy having completed my training with the world renowned Osteopathic Centre for Children (OCC) in London and subsequently specialise in treating babies and children although I still enjoy treating the rest of the family too.

My introduction to Osteopathy:

Prior to my training I was a Treasurer working in the city and outer suburbs of London. Through working long and stressful hours I discovered osteopathy following a year long suffering of low back pain and migraines. I was persuaded to see an osteopath and was amazed when I suddenly became pain free and realised how long I had put up with this discomfort.

Suddenly finding my headaches had cleared completely was one of the reasons why I decided to become an osteopath. I wanted to share my knowledge with the world that pain does not have to be tolerated. My aim is to make more people aware of their bodies and know that they can do something about the pain and discomfort they may find themselves in, such as from the stresses and strains of working life, from sports injuries, accidents, and emotional traumas. One of the principles of osteopathy is to treat YOU as an individual and that includes taking into account your lifestyle, your family, your emotions, encompassing the whole of you. I want YOU to become aware that you do not have to ‘put up’ with having a lower back ache, you do not have to ‘put up’  with having digestion problems. YOU can do something about it.

As well as treating for the primary symptom I look at why those symptoms started in the first place and I will give you advice on exercises and diet to help YOU change what is causing these symptoms to occur.

I specialise in children because I believe that if I can treat babies and toddlers early on in their growing life then any retained stresses and strains can be removed before they can develop into ill-health later on in life. I often treat adults and wish that osteopathy had been more in the public eye or more available to people 30 years ago as a lot of problems that they present with may have been prevented with earlier correction and understanding.
